Despite a rough year dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, Michigan cities, counties, towns and schools fared well in the new state budget plan that passed the the House and Senate, according to Rep. Douglas Wozniak (R- Shelby Township).
“We needed to come together for the people of Michigan and deliver a proposal that held schools and local revenue sharing harmless,” Wozniak said, according to Michigan House Republicans. “We’ve faced tough times over the past several months, but we must remain committed to preparing our next generations for their future and giving our local communities the resources they need to deliver critical services residents rely on.”
In addition to protecting K-12 schools and local governments, the budget also includes more money for roads, workforce development and hiring and training correctional officers.
