FOIA Request to Macomb County Election Division Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024. The Shelby Review, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has requested records under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq.

The request specifically seeks the pre-election test reports for election voting machines in PDF format with specific fields. These fields include the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether it passed or failed.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and public accountability, we at the Shelby Review believe that access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from the Macomb County Election Division and will continue our work in ensuring that our local government affairs are transparent and accountable to the public.
