State Rep. Josh Schriver | Michigan House Republicans
Rep. Josh Schriver, a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, made several statements on his X (formerly Twitter) account on September 17, 2025. His posts addressed issues ranging from internet regulation to criticisms of state officials.
In one post, Schriver stated: "Porn producers are sex traffickers." (September 17, 2025).
Later that day, he elaborated on proposed legislation regarding internet content restrictions: "The intent of my bill is simple:
Internet Service Providers block porn sites.
Boom. Done. That’s it.
They could do this in like 10 minutes if they wanted to…" (September 17, 2025).
Schriver also criticized Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, writing: "Thuggishly, Dana Nessel uses her position as Attorney General to attack innocent Michigan residents.
This should never happen—but it did—and every taxpayer pays for her legal fees.
We have the God-given right to redress our grievances.
We have the God-given right to dissent." (September 17, 2025).
Rep. Josh Schriver represents constituents in the Michigan House and has previously advocated for conservative policies related to internet regulation and government accountability. The debate over restricting online pornography has seen similar legislative proposals in other states and countries; such efforts often raise questions about free speech and the technical feasibility of broad content blocks by Internet Service Providers.
Dana Nessel serves as Michigan's Attorney General and has been involved in several high-profile legal actions during her tenure. Disputes between state legislators and executive branch officials are not uncommon in state politics, particularly when contentious policy areas or legal strategies are at stake.
