State Representative Ron Robinson has expressed his support for Michigan's new Advanced Air Mobility Initiative, which is set to enhance job opportunities and bolster the manufacturing of drone technologies in Southeast Michigan.
"This initiative will launch careers, modernize supply chains, and make sure that the next generation of American-made aerospace innovation is built right here in Michigan," Robinson stated. He emphasized the region's historical significance in the automotive industry and its potential leadership in air mobility with this investment.
The initiative is supported by over $4 million in state funding and aims to advance the testing, production, and integration of drones across various sectors such as healthcare, emergency services, research, and automotive logistics.
Robinson remarked on Michigan's move away from relying on overseas manufacturers: "Too often, we've outsourced critical technology to overseas manufacturers, but this time, Michigan is stepping up and building it here, testing it here, and hiring here." He noted the creation of high-skilled jobs and advancements in U.S. manufacturing as key outcomes.
"By investing in our drone capabilities today," he continued, "we're not only creating immediate job opportunities but we're positioning Michigan to compete globally and safeguard the technologies we'll rely on tomorrow."
