State Representative Tom Kuhn, a Republican from Troy, presented his proposal to the House Government Operations Committee. The bill aims to designate May as "Chaldean American Month" in Michigan.

"This is a well-earned and long-overdue recognition," stated Kuhn. He highlighted the significant role Chaldean Americans play in Michigan's cultural, economic, and civic life, particularly in Southeast Michigan. According to Kuhn, "We are home to the largest Chaldean population in the world outside of Iraq, with more than 187,000 residents in Macomb and Oakland counties alone."

House Bill 4303 seeks to officially recognize May each year as "Chaldean American Month." This designation would honor the contributions of Chaldean, Assyrian, and Syriac Americans both within Michigan and across the United States.

Kuhn emphasized their impact by saying, "Their deep-rooted faith and family values remain a defining part of our communities. They are leaders in business, law, medicine, education, and public service, and they are building strong families, strong communities, and a stronger Michigan."
