Representative Josh Schriver, a public figure engaged in legislative activities, has expressed his concerns regarding Michigan's Administrative Procedure Act (APA) of 1969 over several tweets. Schriver is vocal about the need for significant legislative action to address what he perceives as systemic issues within the state government, attributing them to the powers granted by the APA.

On April 29, 2025, Schriver shared his initial thoughts on repealing the Michigan APA of 1969. He suggests that "a policy to repeal the Michigan Administrative Procedure Act (APA) of 1969 will require 75-100 bills." He mentions the draft restrictions each office faces, emphasizing the necessity for a collaborative effort across multiple offices. He criticizes the act for enabling state departments to create their own regulations, stating that it has resulted in departments wielding excessive power.

The following day, on April 30, 2025, Schriver voiced his stance against governmental overreach through state departments. Pointing to his concerns, he declared that "the weaponization of state government must end immediately." He committed to testifying against and exercising oversight to curtail what he views as uncontrolled state entities, such as the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). He concluded with a note asking for prayers for his constituent at “DAWG” and indicated that further details would follow.

On the same day, Schriver reiterated his rationale for supporting the repeal of the 1969 APA. He highlighted the longevity of departmental autonomy under the act and associated it with declining service quality, as observed personally by himself and others. Schriver stated, "this is why we want to repeal the APA of 1969." He argued that it does not have to remain this way, implying that action could lead to improvement.
