January is National Poverty in America Awareness Month. Poverty is a lack of basic human needs but stretches much broader and deeper than just income level. During this month, we aim to recognize the severe conditions of poverty that many are living in.
There are tens of millions of people in the US who are deprived of three meals a day, quality education, and even clean and healthy drinking water. Many can’t even afford warm clothes during winter. The question is, how can we end poverty? Well, you may not completely be able to eradicate poverty, but you can help in improving the living conditions of hundreds, if not thousands, of people.
The Sterling Heights CommUNITY Alliance encourages all citizens to acknowledge the problem of poverty and look for ways to assist those who need assistance.
