Utica Police Department is looking for crossing guards

The Utica Police Department is looking for crossing guards. Help out your community and make some extra money. 

Morning and afternoon shifts available.  

Daily shifts available or work as an alternate and fill in when needed.

This is a responsible position which requires an individual who possesses the ability to amicably interact with children and can use good judgment while providing safe movement of the children to and from area school roadways or intersections.

School Crossing Guards work approximately 1 hour a day, Monday through Friday, during the public-school year (September through June). 

DUTIES

-Watch for gaps in traffic and safely walk children across the roadway or intersections while holding a STOP sign in such a manner as to be visible to approaching traffic.

QUALIFICATIONS – Upon request

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

-Must successfully complete a structured training program annually

-Ability to arrive at post on time

-Must be able to pass an extensive background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, hear and stand for up to a maximum 1/2 hour per shift.

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works outside in all types of weather conditions.
