Civilian Fire Academy beginning this fall

The Sterling Heights Fire Department is looking for candidates to take part in the Civilian Fire Academy beginning this fall. This is an opportunity for residents to get an inside look at the operation of the Sterling Heights Fire Department and get a taste of what it is like to be a Firefighter/Paramedic. Due to the hands-on nature of the program, the class size is limited, and applications must be submitted for consideration.

The program will run for five weeks, on Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning Sept. 1 through Sept. 29, 2022.

This program will have some components that will be physically demanding, yet safety of the participants will be a primary focus. It is important that interested candidates keep this in mind.

Participants will take part in:

• Vehicle Extrication

• Technical Rescue

• Fire Attack

• Fire Extinguishers

• CPR Certification

• Department Operations

• EMS Delivery

Participants must be at least 18 years of age at the beginning of the academy and residents of the city of Sterling Heights. More info can be found on our website!
