SterlingFAST 5K registration now open

A1

The fun and excitement surrounding the Sterlingfest Art & Music Fair continues as organizers proudly announce the 8th Annual Sterlingfast 5K, sponsored by Amazon.

The family fun run begins at 9 a.m., Saturday, July 30th at Dodge Park, located on the corner of Utica and Dodge Park Roads.   Participants will meet in the Farmers Market Pavilion and the course will take runners and walkers north on Utica Road to the city’s Nature Center where participants will cross over the river and return south to Dodge Park via the parks’ scenic bike path.

Community Relations Director Melanie Davis said the race is unique because of the fun and energetic setting.  “We’re encouraging people to come for the run and stay for the food and entertainment that begins at 11 a.m. when the Suds n Sounds pavilion opens.  Local favorite musical acts are scheduled to perform and a variety of restaurants and food vendors will be on site to feed the crowd.”

The cost of the race is $25 until July 5th. After July 5th, cost is $30 until the day of the race. Awards will be given for Overall men and women, as well as age group awards (Top 3 in every age group). Medals, post-race snacks and an adult beverage (for those over 21) are also included. Shirts are guaranteed to those registered by July 18th; availability may be limited to anyone registering after July 18th.

Early packet pickup will be available at the Sterling Heights Community Center, 40250 Dodge Park Road, on Friday, July 29th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Participants can register the day of the race and/or pick up their packets between 7:30 and 8:45 a.m., Saturday, July 30th under the Dodge Park Farmers Market Pavilion.

The SterlingFAST course is chip timed, flat, fast and will be a fun family event for all runners and walkers.  Awards will be presented in age groups (every 5 years) with overall men’s and women’s winners and overall men’s and women’s masters categories.

The 2022 SterlingFAST 5K is donating a portion of the event proceeds to support the Daryl Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund. Daryl Brown was a retired Sterling Heights Police Officer, a coach at St. Anne's and Regina, as well as a longtime runner. Additional donations will be accepted at registration.
