Collegeclassroom577

County of Macomb issued the following announcement on Apr 6.

Back by popular demand, Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) is offering Adulting 101 again this spring. These engaging educational programs are designed for high school students and young adults to help demystify the obscure reality of being an “adult.” Each class is packed full of important life skills and tools necessary to live independently. The Adulting 101 Spring Series will run on April 7, 14, 21 and 28 with topics including paying for post-secondary education, communication and conflict, credit and why it matters, and resume writing. The April classes will start virtually at 5:00 pm EST and last approximately an hour. Individuals will need to register at the MSU Extension website, www.msue.msu.edu and search adulting 101 or direct link here: https://events.anr.msu.edu/adulting101spring22/

A large majority (92%) of past participants agreed or strongly agreed with the statement, “The adulting 101 resources provided by MSU Extension are helpful.’’ One participant commented, “When I live on my own I feel like I can apply some of things I learned with ease now that I have a better understanding.” Another attendee said, “all the info was helpful, and I feel prepared to go out and able to clean, cook and manage a budget.”

Each quarter MSU Extension will be offering a series of Adulting 101 classes for youth and young adults. Future topics will focus on being an informed renter, food preservation, voting, developing a spending plan, choosing your future and more. If you are interested in learning more about adulting 101 sessions, please reach out to Macomb County MSU Extension Educator, Kathy Jamieson, jamies13@mus.edu.
