2022 UCS DECA Recap

Utica Community Schools issued the following announcement on Mar 24.

At the DECA Michigan State Career Development Conference (SCDC), students from all four comprehensive high schools represented UCS at the annual event. Preparing emerging leaders and entrepreneurs to be college and career ready, the DECA SCDC was held on March 10-12, 2022 with over 4,200 members and advisors in attendance.

At the 2022 DECA SCDC, UCS students focused on improving their leadership and professional skills, in hopes of being named a state finalist, or even qualify to represent Michigan DECA at the 2022 International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in April. Below are some highlights from the event.

Eisenhower High School:

Robert Hilliard, Robert Thompson and Jonathan Kotas - School Business Enterprise event – State Finalists, ICDC qualifiers

Trent Baker and Mia Shaw - Independent Business Plan – State Finalists, ICDC qualifiers

Jacob Williams and Ashton Ingalls – Ethics Team event – State Finalists

Henry Ford II High School:

Dominick Costakes, Genevieve Costakes and Emma Zeric – Financial Literacy – State Finalists, ICDC qualifiers

Stevenson High School:

Chris Anaya-Melendez and Zohaib Ali – Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan Category – Regional Finalists

Utica High School:

Zach Powrozek, Darren Welch, Jack Mahoney - Integrated Marketing Campaign: Service – State Finalists, ICDC qualifiers

James Duff and Laina Tomei – Integrated Marketing Campaign: Product – State Finalists, ICDC qualifiers

Alexis Alore – Apparel and Accessories – State Finalist, ICDC qualifiers

Alexis Findley and Jena Theis – Sports Marketing Team – State Finalists, ICDC qualifiers

Alyssia Johnson, Hannah Kauppila, Grant Freestone – School Based Enterprise – State Finalists, ICDC qualifiers

Steven Paquette and Gavin Zbytowski – Innovation Plan – State Finalists, ICDC qualifiers

Marissa Barch and Anthony Bleck – Buying and Merchandising Team – State Finalists
