A Christmas Carol

Christmas

City of Mount Clemens issued the following announcement on Dec 17.

The Eagle Encore student group from Algonquin Middle School hosted their annual holiday performance of the Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol”.  Over 55 students participated in the performance as actors, set builders and tour guides.  Sets were assembled throughout the hallways of AMS, and the audience moved in small tours from scene to scene.  The director, Rita Vecchio, works year-round collecting props, sewing costumes, building sets, and organizing students and volunteers for this special community event. Guests were also treated to Christmas carols sang by the Algonquin Choir and refreshments provided by the Algonquin PTO.

The director, Rita Vecchio, has been recognized for her extraordinary commitment to the Algonquin school community.  Mrs. Vecchio runs the school-wide positive behavior program, creates monthly student-centered displays, collects names for monthly effort awards, creates locker badges for students to recognize their participation in sports, clubs, or awards, works all year taking pictures for the yearbook, decorates for events such as completion ceremonies and concerts, and is a mentor to many students throughout the building.
