City of Sterling Heights recently issued the following announcement.
Today, the city of Sterling Heights recognizes Purple Heart Day and commemorates the creation of the oldest American military decoration for military merit.
The Purple Heart medal is a solemn distinction and means a service member has greatly sacrificed themselves, or paid the ultimate price, while in the line of duty.
We will fly the Purple Heart Flag on City Campus this weekend, and the Halo on Hall Rd. will be lit purple this evening to honor this day.
