Lucido says farewell to Michigan Senate members as he becomes Macomb County Prosecutor

Michigan Sen. Peter Lucido, (R-Shelby Township) issued a press release as he said farewell to Senate members, reported MiSenateGOP.

“As 2020 draws to a close and I prepare to transition to the office of Macomb County Prosecutor, it is with significant emotion that I say thank you for allowing me to serve you and all of the families of the 8th Senate District," Lucido told MiSenateGOP.

He thanked his constituents, calling his two-year term a "privilege."

“This past year has been unprecedented, but I am glad that I have had the privilege of serving you during these difficult times," Lucido said, according to MiSenateGOP. "Despite the pandemic, I never stopped working for the betterment of our county and our state. I have enjoyed every minute of it."

Lucido also highlighted the many bills he was able to get passed in the Michigan Legislature.

“During my two years in the Senate, I have had numerous pieces of legislation that were signed into law, just as I did while serving in the House of Representatives," Sen. Lucido told MiSenateGOP. "Through it all, I have endeavored to improve our criminal justice system, strengthen protections for seniors and to ensure the safety of our children. All the while, I have done my best to be accessible to you, despite spending more than half of most weeks in Lansing."

In the November general election, Lucido defeated former judge Mary Chrzanowski for the office of Macomb County prosecutor. He will be replacing Eric Smith, who was forced out by a financial scandals and resigned March 30, according to The Detroit News. Lucido won the election with 52.5% of the vote. He will be sworn in for his new position Monday, Jan. 4.
