Township of Shelby issued the following announcement on Dec. 14.
Winter taxes become due on December 1st and are payable without penalty until February 28. On March 1st, all unpaid taxes are forwarded as ‘delinquent’ to the Macomb County Treasurer for payment, with additional penalties assessed by the County Treasurer. Summer taxes become due on July 1st and are payable without penalty until September 14. After September 14, a 1% late fee is assessed for September. An additional 1% is assessed the first of each month thereafter through February 28th of the following year. Please send any late summer payments directly to the Treasurer’s Office, 52700 Van Dyke Ave., Shelby Twp., MI, 48316. If tax due dates fall on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the due date will be the immediately succeeding business date, per MCL 211.44a(6) for summer taxes, and MCL 211.78a(2) for winter taxes.
