Huron Academy issued the following announcement on Jun. 8.
Most of you have reached out with questions regarding our plan for 8th grade completion. After much discussion, we have decided to have a parking lot ceremony for the 8th grade class of 2020.While it’s certainly not ideal, we believe this is the best way to honor your child while still adhering to legal guidelines currently in place, as opposed to doing nothing after the hard work our students have shown over the years. They deserve better than that, and we want to honor them.
The structure and details of this ceremony are as follows: the ceremony itself will be held on Thursday, June 11th, from 6-6:30 p.m. in our Utica campus parking lot. You’ll pull into the
parking lot like you normally would for student pick-up/drop off, and stay in the lane closest to the sidewalk. Mr. Talbot, Mrs. Bremerkamp, and Mr. Sobczak will be at the north end of the building. When you pull up, you’ll get a certificate from us, and as you leave, you’ll be able to drive along and say goodbye to your child’s teachers, while they applaud, congratulate, and shout words of encouragement to their students.
Make sure your student is on the passenger side of the vehicle, so they can more easily receive their certificate, and can roll down the window to see their teachers. Additionally, there will be a commemorative video posted on our website and Facebook page the following week.As always, we thank you for your support and dedication to student success. We hope to see you on Thursday the 11th, RAIN OR SHINE – we can’t wait to see you all one more time.
