MACOMB FAMILY YMCA: YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit Reopens Childcare at the Farmington Family YMCA

Macomb Family YMCA issued the following announcement on May 21. 

In an effort to support essential workers and all families returning to work the YMCA will be reopening our childcare program for ages 3-12 at the Farmington Family YMCA on Wednesday, May 27th. “We’re excited to be able to provide a safe, educational and fun environment for children while their families work”, said Sue Smith, Vice President of Operations:Programs for the YMCA.

The Farmington Family YMCA is located at 28100 Farmington Road, Farmington, MI 48334. Operating hours will be 7 am to 6 PM, Monday through Friday for children and youth ages 3-12 Children must be potty trained to be enrolled.

In monitoring recommendations from local, state, and federal authorities including the American Camping Association (ACA), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other YMCA partners. The following steps will be taken to ensure the safety of all participants, and staff. “Keeping children safe will be our number one priority,” Smith said. 

YMCA childcare safety protocols are as follows:

  • Space will be assigned based on a first come first serve basis with limited availability.
  • Health waivers will be required to be completed upon drop off.
  • Health screenings will occur daily; including a health screening questionnaire, child’s temperature at arrival, and an overall health check.
  • Modified drop off and pick up procedures for families within defined arrival and departure times. Arrivals will be accepted between 7- 9 am. Departures will take place 4-6 pm.
  • Participants will engage in groups of a 1:9 ratio. 
  • Equipment will be set up for each child to use daily for all activities. 
  • Preschoolers will be provided with nap items for rest time that will be laundered onsite by Y staff.
  • All staff are required to wear a mask at all times, children 2 and up a mask is recommended per the CDC guidelines. 
  • Updated staff training per state licensing requirements. 
  • Updated cleaning procedures during sessions, and before and after the day. 
  • Items from home will be restricted to: extra change of clothes as needed and reusable water bottle 
Meals:

  • Through sponsored programs operated by our Healthy Living YMCA, meals will be provided for children at no additional costs to families.
  • A brown bag, non perishable lunch will be required if you choose to provide your child with their own food.
Additional program offerings include:

  • Per age, common core aligned academic curriculum including; STEM, Math & Literacy (and more) 
  • Physical Activity and Nutrition Programming
  • Crafts & Engaging hands on activities
  • Outdoor Education 
Upon online enrollment, the following will be provided: 

  • Parent Handbook
  • Pick up/Drop off Procedures
  • Pre Enrollment paperwork to complete prior 
  • Food Menu (Breakfast, Snack & Lunch are provided)

Childcare (Ages 5-12): Click Here and use the register for 2020 Farmington Day Camp section. The Day Camp forms are serving as our interim child care registration forms. Once you are registered online, you will receive an email from Docu-Sign, complete the online registration form accordingly, and submit.
