HURON ACADEMY: Michigan’s Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, has announced that there have been two confirmed cases of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Michigan

Health event recap 01

Huron Academy issued the following announcement on Mar. 11.

Dear Families,

Michigan’s Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, has announced that there have been two confirmed cases of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Michigan. At Huron Academy, the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. Although the health risk to the general public is low, we would like you to know that our school will follow any and all State and Federal guidelines and protocols.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that the best way to avoid this health issue is through prevention:

•Stay at home if you are sick and avoid contact with people who are sick.

•Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.

•Throw used tissues in the trash.

•Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

•Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

•Thoroughly clean frequently-touched surfaces.

The Huron Academy administration and staff take this issue seriously and we will keep you updated if we receive further information from our State or Federal governments.
