Charter Township of Shelby issued the following announcement on Sept. 20.
Thanks to the Macomb County Department of Roads, 21 Mile Road between Shelby and Schoenherr roads is complete. The total cost of the repair and overlay was $1.51 million with the township giving $758,583 as its share paid in cash with no debt, no bonding and no increase in local taxes.
For those asking about the rest of 21 Mile Road, the Shelby Township Board of Trustees approved an agreement to repair the remainder of 21 Mile Road between Schoenherr and Hayes roads in 2020 at its Sept. 17 meeting. This section is part of a larger federally-funded project that extends to Garfield Road within Macomb Township.
The county estimates the cost of this project within Shelby Township to be $1.1 million. Shelby Township approved $207,377 for its portion to be paid in cash with no debt, no bonding and no increase in local taxes.
We hope you enjoy the roads and thank you for your patience as we continue to improve our community.
