Michigan State Representative Josh Schriver marked the observances of All Saints Day and All Souls’ Day, as well as the birthday of political commentator Pat Buchanan, in a series of social media posts on November 1 and 2, 2025.
On November 1, Schriver posted about the weather in Michigan and the significance of All Saints Day: "Michigan has a sky fit for 'All Saints Day' today. Happy All Saints Day!"
The following day, he shared a prayer traditionally associated with All Souls’ Day: "Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. : 'All Souls’ Day', Franz Skarbina (1896)"
Later on November 2, Schriver extended birthday wishes to a prominent figure in American politics: "Happy 87th Birthday to Pat Buchanan!"
All Saints Day is observed annually on November 1 by many Christian denominations to honor all saints known and unknown. It is followed by All Souls’ Day on November 2, which commemorates all the faithful departed. Pat Buchanan is an American political commentator and author who has been influential in conservative circles since his roles as advisor to several U.S. presidents.
