Rep. Josh Schriver, a Michigan state representative, posted a series of holiday-themed messages on his social media account between October 30 and November 1, 2025.
On October 30, Schriver wrote: "BYE BYE DEI
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO EVERYONE (EXCEPT DEI) https://t.co/m67JQe8rxJhttps://t.co/UXfr7SFoVu". The message referenced Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), a set of policies and programs increasingly debated in public institutions across the United States.
The following day, October 31, Schriver posted another message: "Happy Halloween https://t.co/oeu4IsU9pA".
On November 1, he marked the transition to the Christmas season with a post stating: "I can’t go back.
I’m in the Christmas Spirit until the 12 Days of Christmas is over on January 6th.
This is me. https://t.co/qptK48nSeN".
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives have been subject to political debate at both state and national levels in recent years. Schriver’s comments reflect ongoing discussions within Michigan’s legislature regarding such programs in education and government settings.
Schriver represents part of Oakland County in the Michigan House of Representatives and has previously commented on cultural and policy issues through his official channels.
