Michigan State Representative Josh Schriver has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing both public safety and historical commemoration.

On October 11, 2025, Schriver called for stronger legal consequences for those inciting violence, stating, "Violence will continue to escalate until we imprison all who call for violence. We cannot be satisfied by tweets, memes, statements, demonstrations and orders. Criminals are emboldened by lack of consequence. Evidence: the image below of a post made this week near my district."

Schriver also marked Columbus Day with two posts on October 13, 2025. In the first, he shared a historical quotation attributed to Christopher Columbus: '"I was led by the hand of God to discover these lands so that the Gospel might be preached to many nations, and that the name of Jesus Christ might be known in the remotest parts of the earth." -Christopher Columbus' Later that day, he posted a brief message: "Happy Columbus Day!"

Josh Schriver represents a district in Michigan's House of Representatives. His recent statements come amid ongoing national debates about public safety and the observance of historical figures such as Christopher Columbus.
