State Representative Ron Robinson of Utica has emphasized his dedication to supporting Michigan's veterans by advocating for new grant funding initiatives. These programs aim to assist non-profit veterans' organizations such as Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and American Legions.
Rep. Robinson, who chairs the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military and Veterans Affairs, is focusing on creating a grant program. This initiative is intended to finance necessary renovations and repairs in American Legion outposts and VFW halls throughout the state.
"As a veteran, I know first-hand how important these spaces are," stated Robinson. "All across our state, veterans are in need of support. Organizations like the VFW and American Legion are steady, charitable fixtures in our communities. From hosting fundraisers to organizing local clean-ups, these veterans continue serving long after their active duty ends. It’s time we return the favor by investing in the spaces they rely on to gather, organize, and support their neighbors."
Robinson further added, "Every Michigander has an organization like this in their community, and most are in dire need of updates," emphasizing his goal to help them maintain their vital role within communities while ensuring that veterans have comfortable locations for gathering with fellow servicemen. "Veterans have done so much for this nation; I aim to return the favor."
