State Rep. Josh Schriver | Michigan House Republicans
In a recent development, Representative Josh Schriver has defended his remarks on immigration and demographics following a resolution introduced by House Democrats. The resolution condemned Schriver's comments as "racist" in relation to the "Great Replacement Theory" and "White genocide." Schriver countered these accusations, asserting that concerns about illegal immigration and demographic changes are common among mainstream conservatives and should not be considered fringe or racist.
Schriver argued that unchecked mass migration, particularly involving illegal entry, threatens national sovereignty and undermines law and order. He criticized the Biden Administration's policies for allowing over 10 million people to enter the U.S. illegally, which he claims has strained resources and communities. He also noted that sanctuary cities have worsened the situation by leading to a breakdown of law and order. Schriver reiterated his support for enforcing existing laws more strictly to protect national borders.
"This isn’t just a policy failure; it’s a breakdown of national sovereignty and respect for federal law," Schriver stated. "What we’re focused on is protecting our communities and upholding our customs."
Schriver mentioned figures such as Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles, Jack Posobiec, Tucker Carlson, and J.D. Vance who share similar concerns about the political motivations behind mass immigration. “The younger generation of conservatives has embraced these views, and they are becoming a regular part of the national conversation,” he said.
He further explained that this debate is rooted in American political tradition, referencing historical figures like John Jay and Alexander Hamilton from the Federalist Papers. According to Schriver, liberals have diverged from these foundational positions while labeling conservatives as anti-American for their stance on immigration.
Schriver addressed what he perceives as a double standard in media coverage of these issues. “The only reason the Democrats are making a fuss about this is because I don’t celebrate it," he claimed. He argued that when left-wing outlets discuss these topics positively, it's accepted; however, when conservatives express concern, it's labeled as extreme or racist.
He concluded by emphasizing that discussions around immigration should not be silenced or mischaracterized by political opponents: “The millions of Americans who are speaking up about these issues are not bigots—they are patriots who love their country and want to protect it,” Schriver said. “It’s time for an honest conversation about immigration and the future of this nation.”
