We Are Hiring - Mentor - Continuing Education Center

The mentor serves as a liaison between the student, instructor, parents and administration. The mentor provides a personal connection for students, working with students every day to support them and build trusting relationships. The mentor is

responsible for the documenting attendance as stated in the Pupil Accounting Manual.

COMPENSATION

Per the AFSCME 2021-23 contract.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

- Document attendance as stated in the Pupil Accounting Manual.

- Help facilitate the school’s multi-tiered system of support.

- Assist with registration throughout the year.

- Ensure assigned courses meet student graduation needs.

- Monitor student progress weekly and help the student stay on track to complete courses successfully and on time.

- Keep updated lists of students on track for graduation.

- Keep lists of students who are not performing.

- Communicate clear expectations and guidelines to students and families.

- Communicate with the instructor, principal, and parents.

- Establish rapport with the students and encourage academic success.

- Help to assign final grades to student transcripts in Power School after the score is submitted by the instructor.

- Respond to student, parent, principal and instructor requests in a timely manner.

- Help interpret assignment requirements and instructor feedback by reviewing the assignment and the rubric or grading standards with the student.

- Teach and encourage students to be self-directed, independent learners who are responsible for their coursework, but ensure resources are available to help them succeed.

- Prepare orientation resources (including check-in and reporting procedures, communications, welcome letters, email lists, mentor and student responsibilities, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet federal/state guidelines to include:

- Associate’s degree or ETS Parapro certification with a score of 460 or above.

- High School diploma.

STARTING DATE

2022-23 school year.
