Veterans Day 2021

Vd

Clinton Charter Township issued the following announcement on Nov 2.

According to the U. S. Department of Defense, many people believe Veterans Day is spelled with an apostrophe, but they’re wrong. The national holiday does not “belong” to one veteran or multiple veterans, which is what an apostrophe implies. “It’s a day for honoring all veterans – so no apostrophe needed,” says the DOD.

Clinton Township Supervisor Bob Cannon will host a Veterans Day Ceremony at Resurrection Cemetery on Thursday, November 11, at 1 p.m. The event is open to the public and will take place at the American Veterans’ Memorial near the southwest corner of the cemetery, located at 18201 Clinton River Road in Clinton Township.

Cannon has been the master of ceremonies at this annual tradition in Clinton Township for many years.

“It’s a privilege and an honor to recognize and thank the men and women who have served our country.” He said. “I always look forward to seeing our County and Township veterans and their families in attendance.”

COL Steven N. Carozza is the guest speaker. COL Carozza began his Army career with the 82nd Airborne Division until 1997. He served as Company Commander of the 23rd Ordnance Company, and later as commander of the 16th Ordnance Battalion.

Congressman Andy Levin will be in attendance. Congressman  Levin serves Macomb County and portions of Oakland County in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154 and other honored guests will be part of the ceremony. Resurrection Cemetery welcomes veterans, friends, and family members to stay afterward to share memories and visit with our heroes. Call 586-286-9020 for more information.

The Township’s media services staff will video record and schedule the broadcast for cable TV and post to Clinton Township Television’s (CTTV) YouTube channel at youtube.com/CTTV.

Resurrection Cemetery invites the public to events hosted throughout the year, such as Wreaths Across America Day, to be held at noon on Dec. 18. For more information, call 586-286-9020 or go online to: www.mtelliott.com/veterans-day.
