City of Richmond issued the following announcement on July 26.
On June 15th 2021 an Elder member of our community fell victim of Fraudulent Activity. The victim received a call from an individual who identified himself as a Bail Bondsman. The subject requested bail money for the victim’s grandson. The suspect used the victim’s grandson’s name which, made the victim believe the call to be real. The male suspect requested the victim to provide $24,000 for a bond. The victim told the suspect they did not have that kind of money available. The male suspect then amended the amount to $8,000. The victim agreed to $8,000 and was then advised to drive to Mt. Clemens to meet the “bondsman”. The victim explained that they were not well enough to make the trip. At that point the male suspect advised the victim that someone would come to her home to pick up the money.
