Shelby Township Police Department issued the following announcement on Oct. 18.
Great news! We have partnered with our friends at Ring to join the Neighbors community! With the Neighbors App, you can alert your friends and neighbors of suspicious visitors, vehicles and activity in your neighborhood....and now you can let us know too! Of course you should still always call 911 for an emergency and 731-2121 ext 3 to make a crime report, but this is just another way for us all to share information and to look out for one another! Questions? Check out their site! https://shop.ring.com/pages/neighbors
****P.S.....before anyone jumps up and down about privacy*****
No, we don't get access to your Ring videos or devices with this app. Our detectives do have the ability to put out a video request through the app, but all that does is send an email to all the registered Ring device owners letting them know what we are investigating and that we are seeking help. What you do after that is up to you! Send us a video, or ignore our plea for help... the decision remains in your hands!
