John James, House Representative of Michigan, said that the new European Union (EU) trade agreement will enhance American investment and benefit Michigan’s economy, particularly the auto industry. The statement was made on X.

“President Donald Trump delivers once again,” said James. “This historic trade deal with the EU will level the playing field and bring $600 billion in European investment to the US. It’s a massive win for Michigan, our auto industry, and the entire country!”

The recent U.S.-EU trade agreement aims to reduce tariffs, improve market access, and enhance cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, digital services, and manufacturing. Policymakers have highlighted its role in strengthening transatlantic trade and supply chains, according to the Wall Street Journal.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, European investment in the United States is projected to exceed $2.3 trillion by 2025. Significant growth is expected in automotive, pharmaceuticals, and technology sectors.

A 2024 analysis by the Center for Automotive Research indicates that the trade deal will likely benefit Michigan’s auto industry by reducing tariffs, expanding export opportunities, and supporting local manufacturing jobs.

James is a Republican U.S. Representative from Michigan with business and military experience who prioritizes economic development, trade, and manufacturing jobs, as noted by Ballotpedia.
